FAQs
Q. What is GymGuard Sanitiser?
A. GymGuard products contain multiple acticides working together in an aqueous polymer based solution providing a microscopic physical effect combined with a chemical control to give broadband / broad-spectrum sanitisation of treated materials.
Q. What does microbial control mean?
A. It means taking the risk out of the presence of microbes by (in GymGuards case) reducing the reproduction and viable numbers of microbes to safe levels.
Q. How does GymGuard work?
A. GymGuard disrupts the microbes preventing them from establishing colonies and then ensuring that the remaining organisms are rendered harmless or killed.
Q. Why is GymGuard safe to use?
A. Because the physical effect is targeted at microscopic levels and has no effect on larger organisms (like a mousetrap does not endanger an elephant), the physical effect weakens the bugs so we don't need strong
doses of the other biocides.
Q. How can GymGuard be used and where?
A. Anywhere concern about contamination by microbes is an issue. Odours, decay, health issues and food processing and water environments and also for personal use.
Q. What makes GymGuard environmentally friendly and bio-degradable?
A. GymGuard Sanitiser is designed to dissociate (go into it's component parts which are all ecologically harmless) when immersed for over 24 hours in water, the components become foodstuffs to certain natural microbes so it can biodegrade BUT in solutions of more than 0.1% it is perfectly stable for a very long time.
Q. What makes GymGuard long-lasting?
A. The aqueous polymer base keeps the GymGuard at the surface preventing the biocides from "being eroded away".
Q. Does GymGuard sanitise and clean at the same time
and how?
A. Yes, it does because it is a cleaner as well as a sanitiser and because it disrupts/removes bio film.
Q. What does broadband mean?
A. That it controls a huge range of different types of Microbes, Bacteria, Fungi, Mould and Viruses.
Q. Is there microbial resistance to GymGuard and if not why not?
A. No, because it has a physical effect as well as a chemical. Physical effects rarely generate immunity; a rat colony may develop resistance to poisoning (chemical) but never to being decapitated by the rat trap (physical).
Q. Can GymGuard be used on or close to food,
for example fruit, vegetables, fish, meat
products etc.
A. Depending on the legislation, GymGuard can often be used near to foods but not incorporated into foodstuffs for ingestion.
Q. What surfaces can GymGuard be used on?
A. The constituents of GymGuard have been certified by Boeing for the cleaning of aircraft interiors. It conforms to their corrosion tests and also for use on vinyl, plastic, leather, fabric and carpet among others.
Q. What certification does GymGuard have?
A. It is effective against viruses, bacteria, fungi and spores to BS EN 1276, BS EN 1650 and BS 6920 (approved for use in drinking water systems but not approved for consumption). GymGuard also conforms to EN 14476 – effective against Human Influenza A Virus H1N1 (Swine Flu). GymGuard is also certified Halal.
